No. 1 • Cantina Tramin ‘Unterebner’ 2022 • Pinot Grigio • Alto-Adige, Italy •

Inspiration : ‘not your pound pound fruit water’

Color : straw yellow, clean and pristine.

Aroma : serious nose, touch of oak, round with toastiness.

Taste : fruit, baked apple, little nuttiness, slight vanilla reminding of toasted brioche with an apricot marmalade. Laced with minerals, nice tension and acidity with a round, rich flavor and texture.

Big Takeaways

  • Single vineyard Pinot Grigio from large Cooperative in the Alto-Adige of Italy.

  • Aged in French and Austrian Oak.

  • A more serious take on Pinot Grigio…both round and smooth with a strong line of acidity and minerality keeping it soaring in the mouth.

Hints

Great with your seafood!

No. 2 • Chateau Musar, Jeune Rosé 2020 • Cinsault + Mourvèdre • Bekaa Valley, Lebanon •

Inspiration : ‘a food rosé’

Color : salmon pink with an orangish hue, clean and pristine, no sediment.

Aroma : unique with the classic Musar ‘personality’. Bright with slightly overripe stone fruits, salt, and a savory edge.

Taste : stewed stone fruits, overripe stone fruits, touch of pool-toy, fatty thinly sliced prosciutto and a touch of banana.

Big Takeaways

  • From the younger vines of the Musar family in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon; all concrete.

  • Food friendly rosé with a strong personality; bright fruits with a savory edge…touch of salinity reminding of overripe stone fruits and fatty prosciutto.

Hints

Serve with a slight chill… but not too chilled.

No. 3 • Bodegas Emilio Moro ‘La Felisa’ 2021 • Tempranillo • Ribera del Duero, Spain •

Inspiration : ‘a strong, feminine wine’

Color : opaque, thick, dark purple with a garnet red tinge.

Aroma : very floral, purple florals, very perfumed, rich and spice. Lots of dark fruits, juicy cherry and plum.

Taste : follows the nose, dark blue, black and purple fruits, slight baking spices, black pepper, fine yet aggressive tannins, and a hint of herbaceousness.

Big Takeaways

  • Family ran winery with own vines and clone of Tempranillo.

  • Very strong yet feminine wine, named after the Matriarch. Quite perfumed, floral, juicy.

  • Organically grown grapes, no additional sulfur added.

Hints

Even with no additional sulfur being added, the bottle lasts overnight no problem.
